5 Must Read Romance Books

There’s nothing quite like losing yourself in a great love story.  One that consumes you.  Gives you butterflies.  Even makes you fall a little in love with a fictional main character.  Here are just a few romance greats to give you all the tingly emotions you can handle.

Outlander by Diana Gabaldon

I really fought against this one.  It seemed too far fetched even for a fiction lover like myself.  But once I cracked it open I was hooked and that says a lot considering this is book one of an eight book series.
Claire Randall is a happily married combat nurse in 1945.  She happens upon an ancient site which transports her to 1743 Scotland.  While fighting not just to get back home but to survive in a new world on the brink of war where clans are pitted against clans her path intertwines with Jamie Fraser.  Now she is torn between two men, two worlds, two completely different lives.

The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks

If you are interested in a rollercoaster of emotion this one is for you.  This is the kind of love story that puts butterflies in your tummy, a flutter in your heart, and an embarrassed look on anyone around you when it causes you sudden bouts of ugly crying.
Noah returns home after World War II to find that everything has changed including Allie, the woman he left behind years ago.  And even though she is set to marry another man she cannot seem to keep her first love off her mind.

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han

If you occasionally need a light hearted rom-com type of read this is perfect.  It gives all the nostalgia of high school swoon worthy moments as Laura Jean writes five love letters to each of her crushes.  Of course, like with any high school story the most embarrassing thing possible happens and her world turns completely upside down when her secret letters are mailed out to her crushes.

It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover

Now let’s get back to something heavy and intense.  If you’re into books that might change your life and also contain a decent amount of romance then look no further.  Hoover definitely penned a doozy with this one.  It has all the feels but be warned you should only read if you are fully prepared to sob uncontrollably.
Lily’s life is almost too good to be true.  Everything is going right.  Her business is doing well and a budding romance with the perfect guy is just beginning.  But as she questions his avoidance to the subject of commitment she contemplates her first love, Atlas.  As if by a stroke of fate he strolls right back into her life and everything is on shaky ground.

Me Before You by Jojo Moyes

It might seem like this list is full of tear jerkers and this one sure isn’t any different but is it a good love story if it doesn’t make you ball your eyes out?  I think not.
Louisa takes a badly needed job working for her ex, Will.  Her upbeat, chipper, sunny disposition is in complete contrast to his gloomy and bossy persona.  However, the combination makes for an unforgettable story of love, loss, and putting someone else’s happiness over your own.
